The relocation of the cancer center at UNC Health Blue Ridge Valdese takes a compartmentalized space and creates a cohesive department to enhance the treatment and healing process for patients in the community. The project is a 35,000 square foot renovation and addition to the Valdese Hospital and provides medical and radiation oncology services. Imaging modalities include two linear accelerators, CT simulator, and superficial x-ray. Medical oncology includes infusion bays, exam pods and community support areas. Outdoor space includes a serenity garden to serve as a respite area for staff, patients and their families.
