The NC Civil War and Reconstruction History Center will serve both as an interpretive History Center and a hub for educational programming and digital outreach tools that will service all 100 counties of the state of North Carolina.
More educational center and community hub than a museum, the project includes three exhibition galleries, a community forum, classrooms, library, and a small cafe. Perhaps the most important element of the center is the artifact site itself, marked by the ruins of the Fayetteville Arsenal, which was destroyed by General Sherman on his infamous ‘march to the sea’
