Design for movement and athletics emerges from a focus on patterns of daily circulation. Paths into, within and beyond the Faculty Club building are framed and screened in interplay of vertical and horizontal wood screening. The materiality, form and detailing of the screening echo the facility’s pine woods context. A clearly articulated spine aligns and orders the program spaces, their form grounded in utilitarian stone block and broken by windows and clerestories. Amidst the Club’s patterns of activity are injected opportunities for rest and relaxation – spaces to experience and appreciate this active and rich environment both inside and out.
