Location: 100 N Queen St., Kinston, NC 28501
This 32,000 SF museum houses the remains of a civil war era ironclad gunboat, originally constructed in the Kinston area. This project was completed for the North Carolina Dept. of Cultural Resources through the NC State Construction Office. The Interpretive Center creates a new cultural destination for Kinston, complementing the restaurants, microbrewery, and hotels that have been contributing to Kinston's recent "renaissance".
