Alphin Design Build
Location: Raleigh, NC
The owners of 123 Hillcrest wanted a home expressive of their belief in Raleigh’s future; a home bright, comfortable, connected and breathable, yet private and accommodating; a home exhibiting long-term thinking for sustainability, maintenance, and self-sufficiency.
123 Hillcrest intentionally avoids mimicking historic architecture, identifying instead with the progressive founding spirit of Cameron Park, an early streetcar suburb in Raleigh, by adapting the technology and architectural thinking of today.
Carrying the weight, physically and metaphorically, two board-formed concrete walls serve as the home’s circulation spine, connecting (literally) the circulation of the neighborhood (street, sidewalk, alley) with every room in the home.
