Sage and Coombe Architects LLP

Along the Cape Fear River, the Live Oak Bank Pavilion at Riverfront Park, previously a lumber yard mill and cargo weigh station and brownfield are now of a new 6.6-acre waterfront park in Wilmington, NC. Sage and Coombe Architects were the architects in charge of designing a 7,200 person capacity outdoor stage and music venue, complete with a state-of-the-art, 4,000 sq ft stage and back of house support buildings. The project was done in close collaboration with landscape architects Hargreaves Associates and part of the City of Wilmington’s Vision 2020 plan outlining a plan for downtown development.
The project aims to become of the most important cultural venues in Wilmington, thank you to the support of Live Nation, and their roster of concerts and shows lined up. Live Oak Bank Pavilion at Riverfront Park is an achievement in public spaces and public parks, but because it is the product of a democratic referendum in 2012 to develop a public park instead of a privately-owned baseball stadium.
