EVOKE Studio Architecture 

Location: Durham, NC

Beyu Caffe at Boxyard, RTP, is the latest expansion by the famous downtown Durham institution. The owner wanted to export their signature downtown vibe and community-driven mission to Research Triangle Park—in other words, to bring part of Durham to RTP. The project is constrained by three shipping containers of 960 cumulative square feet. As such, the café is conceived as a series of built-ins that slide in and around the container structure without obscuring it. The experience is an ensemble of layered spaces between the three containers and the activity on the site.
