The Morrisville Outlet Mall, located at the geographic center of the Triangle, opened in 1981 then died in the early 2000’s. The location stood out to a group of developers who saw its future as a creative office campus – the perfect blend of location, a quirky project history, and a floor plate size not commonly found. “The Stitch” answers big questions for the suburban landscape: How to de-mall the mall for new uses, imbue it with energy and urban placemaking sensibilities, cast natural light into deep floorplates, and achieve it all on a budget that challenges every design decision.
