This new headquarters for a construction company revitalized a historic building, honoring the original aesthetic while mixing the old with the new. The extensive renovation retained existing raw exposed brick and hardwood floors, celebrating the imperfections that give these materials character over time. Exposed structure and systems, a modern take on an old light fixture, and weathered finishes all contrast with contemporary elements such as painted brick, metal, and glass. A red elevator shaft anchors the building, capturing the eye from any point on the block and unifying the building vertically.
