Location: Charlotte, NC
This 130,000 sf building built in the late 1960’s served as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s basketball arena until the completion of their new arena in 1996. The new arena, along with a more current and modern curriculum, justified the need for a new program that required complete repurposing and renovation of the facility. This $16 million expansion and renovation project includes multiple fitness spaces, locker rooms, a Natatorium, Athletic Courts, Racquetball Courts, Kinesiology and Recreation staff offices, classrooms, a lecture hall, and a new generous lobby and grand entrance with a new plaza.
