The new Health Sciences Building at Davidson County Community College’s campus was designed to meet a dual vision: provide a wellness experience for healthcare students and teachers; and create a culture of interdisciplinarity. DCCC’s ultimate goal was to consolidate all the college’s health programs, which were spread out across the campus, into one state-of-the-art facility. The College’s vision was to support a high-skills interdisciplinary education focused on simulating healthcare industry experiences while providing spaces that encourage a ’learning happens everywhere’ culture under the concept of wellness. The building is inspired by multicellular structures while respecting its contextuality to the campus.
