Hobbs Architects, PA
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
With origins as an abandoned historic timber log cabin on a rural Chatham County farm, the “Moonshine Cabin” found its namesake in a jar of moonshine uncovered during selective demolition.
The design is rooted in the rocky outcroppings of the site and employs recycled heart pine and site sourced stone to create an understated elegance. The cabin and kitchen were fully renovated and a new master suite was added. The addition is completely hidden from view upon approach, greeting visitors with the original simple facade.
The cabin now has a new life that respects its past and fortifies its future.
