LS3P
Location: Raleigh, NC
This new elementary school for a well-established neighborhood integrates with its natural wooded setting with a mix of earth-toned masonry and green metal panels. The design features classroom “neighborhoods” and resource spaces punctuated by generous learning commons areas for collaboration which identifies as the block in the neighborhood concept. The learning commons areas open to exterior views, taking advantage of abundant natural light and reinforcing the visual connection with the neighborhood. Throughout the interior, a welcoming kid-friendly color palette encourages independent wayfinding for young students and reinforces classroom neighborhood identities.
