This 20,000 SF pediatric clinic consolidates ten different pediatric specialties into one centralized location. To comfort and engage the small patients receiving care for acute and chronic illnesses, the playful nautical design brings the beach into the healthcare environment. The clinic’s 39 exam rooms are arranged in six “pods” grouped by specialties, each of which has a dedicated nurse station and access to a shared lab, ultrasound room, classroom, and support spaces. A boat-shaped reception desk, video aquarium, porthole windows, and surfboard light fixtures all bring warmth and human-scale details to the clinic.
