516 Euclid St is a 2150sf new house built on a 5000sf empty lot within the
historic district of Oakwood in Raleigh. The highly energy efficient
house is clearly modern, but takes its cues from the historic craftsman homes found in Oakwood. The low slope roofs, deep overhangs, exposed structure and fenestration patterns all refer to the craftsman homes with a modern interpretation. The interiors are all open and abundantly lit with north and south glazing. The exterior form is a simple box that encloses a series of interconnected spatial volumes defined by daylight.
