Location: Durham, North Carolina

The design solution for the Durham Police Department Headquarters Complex is derived from the careful examination of the projects unique programmatic and contextual dualities. Located between Downtown and east Durham on Main Street, the site offered a chance to reconnect a degraded industrial block with the City. The four-story structure combines rigorous and vivacious facets of the local context with expressions of the building program using a palette of grey brick, stone, a copper metal panel and glass. The Department’s parking structure is internally located on the site to allow for future development at the street.
