400 Augusta Street Claussen Bakery
Greenville, SC
McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture
The Claussen Bakery served the community as a commercial bakery from 1920 to 1973 and is a significant historic property in Greenville’s West Side Neighborhood. Gutted and vacant for many years, the building had significant structural issues but handsome architectural features such as soaring beaded wood ceilings, exposed steel trusses, and unadorned brick walls. The 40,000 SF building has been adapted as a mixed-use redevelopment containing retail businesses and neighborhood services on the ground level, and a single tenant, class “A” office on the upper level.
