Historic Mecklenburg County Courthouse: District Attorney's Office Renovation
Charlotte, North Carolina
Neighboring Concepts
The renovation of the Historically Registered Mecklenburg County Courthouse was designed to give the District Attorney’s staff the functionality and qualities of a contemporary office environment while respecting the timeless monumental nature of the existing neoclassical structure. New life was brought into the building through focusing on several key influential design concepts; Efficiency, Thermal Comfort, Daylighting, Quality of Space, Spatial Awareness, and an Aesthetic Respect for the architectural Rhythm, Symmetry, and Character. In addition to restoration and reconstruction efforts, the project scope included HVAC and window replacement, electrical/telecom and lighting upgrades, ADA improvements, space planning, finishes and access control.
